rant: commercial tunes
Is nothing sacred? Everytime I turn around, some hip tune is blasting on a tv commercial, usually a car commercial, and I tell you this: I don't like it. I don't like it one bit. Let's examine some offenders.
Pas/Cal, Come On Let's Go - Saturn
Iron & Wine, cover of The Postal Service's Such Great Heights - M&Ms
The Postal Service, We Will Become Silhouettes - Honda
Aqueduct, Hardcore Days - Jaguar
Kasabian, Club Foot - Pontiac
M.I.A, Galang - Honda
and the creme de la creme... The Cure, Pictures of You - HP
It's funny because I should feel happy that my demographic is reflected in current advertising, that my opinion counts. But I can't help feeling that's the strategy, and I don't like it one bit.
